Hopkins Area Fire Board

The Hopkins Area Fire Board oversees the Hopkins Area Fire Department and ensures its continued service and protection of the communities of Hopkins, both Village and Township, Watson Township, and Monterey Township.

First formed in November of 1993, the Village of Hopkins, the Township of Hopkins, and the Township of Watson came together to provide basic fire protection services throughout the Hopkins Fire District. This agreement also formed the foundation for supplemental emergency services like more advanced fire protection and Medical First Response in the area.

In 2010, the Monterery Township signed on to the Interlocal agreement, making it a full partner and permanently expanding the Hopkins Fire District. This followed several years of contract agreements between Monterey and the HAFB.

The Hopkins Area Fire Board comprises two (2) representatives from each of the four (4) governments and normally meets quarterly on the third Tuesday of January, April, July, and October at 7:00 PM at the Hopkins Area Fire Department building (200 E. Main Street, Hopkins, MI 49328). All meetings are open to the public.

You can contact the department directly using their email: hopkinsareafd@gmail.com
